First General Assembly of the European Mahjong AssociationIn the hope that Nijmegen 2005 will be the first of many memorable European mahjong championships we have founded a European Mahjong Association. The founding meeting took place in Nijmegen Saturday June 25th, 2005, 18:30-19:30.Agenda
MinutesTina Christensen, DK, was appointed chairman. Allan Rasmusson, DK, was appointed notetaker. Participants of the meeting:
The statutes were changed slightly from the proposal: the general assembly is to take place every other year, most likely at European championships. (Every year was originally proposed). The changed statutes were agreed upon. Further remarks on the statutes: It was mentioned that the membership terms for nations with several local/national associations should be reviewed at the next general assembly. Regarding finances: For now, EMA is based on voluntary work, no finances at present. Review this at next general assembly. Results of elections for the board
OEMC 2007: Mahjong Denmark was chosen to host OEMC 2007 in Copenhagen, Denmark. (In fact no other nominees). A 3-4 day "tourist-package" was considered a very good idea. Allow only a percentage of participants to be non-european. Do NOT announce best player of any single country, for instance hosting country. World Mahjong Association: Martin Rep will discuss with the Japanese and Chinese Mahjong Associations whether it is necessary to create a World Mahjong Commitee. The main pupose of this commitee is to plan where to have the next Mahjong World Championship. Uwe will join these discussions as the president of EMA.
