European Players

All European players need a special EMA registration code to be listed in the Mahjong Europe Ranking System (MERS). The registration numbers are distributed by the national organizations. A list of the registered European players can be downloaded here as Excel-files: players in alphabetical order and players in numerical order (last update: 04-14-2008).

EMA Registration Code: List of Countries

The EMA registration code (also known as MERS number) is an 8-digits-number. The first two digits refer to the country the player belongs to. The following table shows the numbers of the countries:

Regulations About the Nationality of Players

Some players do not want to start for the country of their residence but for the nation they belong to. That is why the Board of the EMA has decided the following regulations about the nationality of players – especially for the Open European Mahjong Championship 2007 in Copenhagen. Players who want to change their playing nationality should be aware of the deadline (see par. 2). These regulations will be revised after the OEMC 2007.

REGULATIONS ABOUT NATIONALITY OF PLAYERS

1. Every player can qualify and play only for one country. The player must be related to the country he presents - by nationality or as country of residence.

2. He or she has to decide before the qualifications start, at least until August 31, 2006. After this date only playing for the country of residence is possible.

3. He or she must have a registration number of the country he or she will play for. Every player can have only one EMA number.

4. He or she has to participate in the qualification subject to the regulation of that country.

5. The EMA member organizations are responsible for dealing the number and registrating the player for the OEMC.

6. Players who want to play for European countries without a national quota for the OEMC (and perhaps without organization and qualification) are combined in the group "Extra". If too much players registrate in this group than lots shall be drawn at the subscription deadline of the OEMC to see who is allowed to start.

7. Players who want to start for a country outside of Europe must register as "Rest of the world". Those players can not be listed in the MERS.
