Mahjong Europe Ranking System

- BASIC ISSUES
- 1.1.
- The European Mahjong Association (EMA) has established a ranking system for
European Mahjong players – the Mahjong Europe Ranking System (MERS). It is

- The EMA can acknowledge local and national European tournaments and international
championships to be rated as MERS competitions. Further important tournaments
can also be certified. All certifications are decided by the board of the EMA.
- 1.3.
- Local and national MERS competitions in Europe must be organized or promoted by
a member organization of the EMA. A maximum of 2 competitions per country and
year can be certified.
- 1.4.
- The Mahong Europe Ranking System (MERS) comes into effect with the first Open
European Mahjong Championship (OEMC) 2005 in Nijmegen/The Netherlands. The
OEMC 2005 is the first MERS Competition.

- PROCEDURE OF CERTIFICATION

- An EMA member organization or a member of the General Asembly of the EMA can
apply for a certification of a tournament. The well-founded application must be sent to
the president of the EMA at least 6 weeks ahead of the tournament.
